What is WRAS Approval? 

The Water Regulations Approval Scheme (WRAS) is an independent UK certification body designed to keep products and materials safe for use in human consumption and specifically potable water. To pass the rigorous testing and industry standard, the rubber materials are tested for affects on water quality. The purpose of the approval is for health and safety and subsequent protection of human consumption. The testing and qualifcation of WRAS certificate must pass the requirements of BS 6920. 

WRAS Testing and Compliance 

The testing and compliance procedure must include passing several checks to do with affecting water quality: 

• impart odour or flavour
• cause a change in appearance (colour or turbidity)
• promote microbial growth
• leach substances harmful to human health
• leach toxic metals  

Our approvals also include a range of EPDM products (50-90 Shore A) and FKM (55A) and other rubber components that can be used in the water industry or other larger scale applications if needed. Take a closer look at all our general rubber products.
